Best Bread Recipes

Figuring out what are the best bread recipes is nothing like figuring out was is the best bread maker.  It is kind of like asking what is the best wine, or what is the best car.  Everyone has their own preferences, and many of them have nothing to do with concrete measurable statistics.

When considering cars, one person may say, I like x model because it has a spoiler.  The next person might say, I dislike x model because it has a spoiler.  It is all completely objective.  The same goes for bread recipes.  Someone might say, I like x recipe because it has a crunchy crust, and the next person may say, I dislike x recipe because it has a crunchy crust.

Bread machines are far easier to pick the best.  For the most part, everyone is really looking for a breadmaker that will consistently put out good quality loaves of bread while making the process as simple as possible.  Yes there are some space and budget qualifiers, but if you set all those aside, it is pretty easy to pick which one is the best.

So it goes with bread recipes and trying to determine which is best.  The best we can do since there is such a wide array of tastes and preferences when it comes to bread is to point out bread recipe books that tend to be well respected in the bread baking communities, and those that seem to be easier to use than others.

So what we have tried to include is recipe books that include a wide array of bread types and are well received:

Best Bread Maker Reviews

Being in the business of reviewing bread machines, I read a lot of poor reviews out there.  In fact, I probably wrote a few bad ones myself when I first got started.  My goal is to not only provide the best reviews of bread machines on the market, but also to review all the best bread makers on the market.

Some tips to look for when reading a reviews and considering a machine for yourself and your families kitchen.

  1. Size- This seems obvious, but the fact is some kitchens have more counter and storage space than others.  So buying the biggest possible breadmaker on the market if your kitchen is the size of a postage stamp does not make any sense and you will have much less enjoyment from it.  However, if you have a huge kitchen with massive counters, then a small bread machine may seem too small aesthetically.  Another size issue to consider is how much bread your family will consume.  If it will be a lot, then a small loaf pan bread maker is not quite right for you.
  2. Color- Some companies offer various colors while others only have one option.  If this is going to stay on your counter top, you may want to make sure it fits your decor.
  3. Your Budget- Prices for bread machines range from below $50 to over $200 and you pretty much get what you pay for.  All of them will do a decent job, but if you want to get into the fancier bread types or just having more options available to you, then you will need to spend a little more.
  4. Types of Breads- there are some bread machines that are better fitted for dietary special breads like gluten free.  If that is a concern for you, search “best gluten free bread maker” to direct you as to the better options for this.
  5. Your Bread making Skills- Some of the higher end model of breadmakers offer you features which will compensate of even the most beginners lack of skills.

So as you go out and read the various reviews, take these tips under consideration so you can ensure that you are getting the best bread maker for your family.  Happy Baking!

Best Gluten Free Bread Maker

People are always asking me what is the best gluten free bread maker?  While this is an easy answer for me, I will also explain why as well.  For our money, the best gluten free bread maker is the the Zojirushi BBCCX20 Home Bakery Supreme Bread Machine.  Hands down the best breadmaker to use for gluten free bread.

There are two main features that the Zojirushi bread machine boasts that few others do.  These features are what make it the best gluten free bread machine.

1.  Double Kneading Paddles- Due to the fact that some of the gluten free flour alternatives tend to be heavier or more dense, the dough can also be described the same way.  This can cause some of the single paddle machines to inadequately mix the dough thoroughly and therefore your bread suffers.  The double kneading paddles offers the strength needed to completely mix together all the gluten free bread ingredients.

2.  The Programmable Recipe Feature- Again, because of the different flours utilized in gluten free bead, and because these flours have unique baking needs, the preset baking programs on some bread machines limit your ability to make good bread.  The custom programming abilities of the Zojirushi Home Bakery allow you to specifically set the baking needs to what you want or need for your particular flour choice.

Another great feature that has nothing to do with making gluten free bread, but is a major plus for the Zojirushi is the power loss backup.  Thanks to this, if your power goes out, you will not need to throw away the ruined batch of dough, the bread machine will remember where it left off and pick up again when the power is restored.

There are other bread machines that may offer some of these great features, but we have yet to find one that offers all.  If gluten free bread is at your hearts desire, the do yourself a favor and get the Zojirushi breadmaker.
